Why I Started Thrivewell… and Why Now?
If you’d asked me 20 years ago what “healthy” looked like, I’d probably have said exercising every day, teaching fitness classes, keeping busy and never stopping.
That was my life throughout my 30s and 40s.
I was teaching more than 15 fitness classes every week, working full-time, bringing up a young son and running on little sleep and far too much coffee. Ironically, despite all that activity, I was nearly two stone heavier than I am today.
I thought I was doing everything right.
Looking back now, I realise I was exercising a lot, but I wasn’t truly looking after my health.
As I’ve got older, my perspective has completely changed.
Now, much closer to 60 than 50, I’ve learnt that good health isn’t about pushing harder. It’s about understanding your body and giving it what it needs.
For me, that means:
Prioritising my health rather than squeezing it into whatever time is left.
Training smarter with strength, mobility and recovery instead of endless cardio.
Eating cleaner and focusing on nourishing my body with protein and balanced meals.
Protecting my sleep and managing stress because they matter just as much as exercise.
Accepting that health isn’t about perfection—it’s about consistency.
The result?
I genuinely feel stronger, healthier and more energetic now than I did years ago.
That’s why I created Thrivewell.
Thrivewell isn’t about six-week transformations or chasing the number on the scales. It’s about helping people make realistic, sustainable changes that improve how they feel every single day.
Whether you’re navigating menopause, wanting to lose weight, improve your fitness, build confidence, reduce stress or simply move more, my aim is to support you in a way that works for your life.
At Thrivewell you’ll find:
🚶 Wellbeing Walks that combine movement with conversation.
💪 Personal Training tailored to your goals and ability.
⛳ Women’s Golf sessions where beginners can learn in a relaxed, supportive environment.
🌿 Menofit courses designed to help women understand their changing bodies and feel empowered through education and exercise.
I don’t expect perfection from my clients because I don’t expect it from myself.
I simply believe that small, consistent changes can have a huge impact on your health and happiness.
If my journey has taught me one thing, it’s this:
It’s never too late to put yourself first.
If you’re ready to feel stronger, healthier and more confident, I’d love to help you take that first step.
