Every year, Mental Health Awareness Week reminds us how important it is to pause, reflect, and prioritise our emotional wellbeing. Life can often feel overwhelming with work, family responsibilities, menopause symptoms, stress, poor sleep, or simply trying to keep up with daily demands.
At Thrivewell Coaching, I believe that wellbeing doesn’t have to mean huge life changes. Often, it’s the small, consistent steps that make the biggest difference.
Looking After Your Mental Wellbeing
Mental health is just as important as physical health. Some days we feel motivated and positive, while other days may feel heavy, exhausting, or emotionally draining — and that’s completely normal.
Simple ways to support your mental wellbeing include:
Taking a short walk outdoors
Moving your body in a way that feels good
Talking to someone you trust
Setting boundaries and saying no when needed
Practising mindfulness or deep breathing
Making time for rest without guilt
Staying connected with supportive people
Even 10 minutes of self-care can help reset your mind and improve how you feel.
The Connection Between Movement and Mood
Exercise isn’t only about fitness goals — it can also have a powerful impact on mental wellbeing. Movement can help reduce stress, improve sleep, boost confidence, and release feel-good hormones that support your mood.
This doesn’t mean intense workouts are necessary. Gentle movement counts too:
Walking
Stretching
Yoga
Swimming
Dancing
Running with friends
Strength training at your own pace
The key is finding movement you enjoy and can realistically fit into your lifestyle.
Menopause and Mental Health
Many women experience increased anxiety, low mood, brain fog, irritability, or loss of confidence during menopause. Hormonal changes can affect both physical and emotional wellbeing, and it’s important to know you are not alone.
Creating supportive spaces where women can talk openly, feel heard, and connect with others can make a huge difference. That’s one of the reasons Thrivewell Coaching is passionate about supporting women through lifestyle coaching, wellbeing conversations, and community support.
Be Kind to Yourself
Mental wellbeing isn’t about being positive all the time. It’s about recognising when you need support, slowing down when necessary, and treating yourself with the same kindness you give to others.
This week, ask yourself:
What do I need more of?
What do I need less of?
How can I support my own wellbeing today?
Remember — progress doesn’t have to be perfect.
